I'm Aimi Friend, London-based freelance copywriter and founder of Create Copywriting. Below is a little personal information about me, so that you can get an idea of my credentials and approach, and decide whether we are a good fit for your business. I hope you will decide that we are!
I started CREATE in early 2009 to service UK business's copywriting needs at a time when excellent copywriting has never been more important. In economic downturns it is essential for businesses to communicate effectively with customers and prospective customers, and to send messages to their competitors, to ensure the financial success of their organisation.
I didn't start my professional life as a copywriter, but working in the financial sector for a large investment bank. I then moved to the legal sector and, following a period of study, qualified as a commercial property lawyer for a top-10 City law firm. Yes, for my sins I have been both banker and lawyer. But this tough commercial grounding was fantastic training: teamwork, excellent communication skills, creative thinking and impeccable writing skills were all prerequisites.
In early 2009, circumstances conspired to give me an opportunity to make the change that I had been longing for and start a career as a freelance writer. As a keen traveller, I wanted the flexibility to work from anywhere - one of the many gifts that modern technology has bestowed upon us. My passion for words led me to the law and now it was leading me in a new direction, somewhere I could really flex my creative muscles. With the benefit of years of corporate experience and the work ethic it had instilled upon me, I started CREATE and, I am happy to say, I have never had to look back.
While my route into the industry was a little unconventional, I hope you will agree that I have breadth and depth of experience across a wide range of disciplines. This is vital for a copywriter. You have to be able to step into the shoes of your clients, to see their view of the world, understand what drives them, their needs and wants. Having worked for years in unerringly client-focussed industries, I understand the importance of listening to my clients' needs and goals, adapting to them and converting them into reality, on time and on budget.
